When it comes to medical advice today what would you say is your main resource for finding medical advice? Do you frequent medical websites like WebMD? Do you rely on a family doctor? Is your family doctor a normal medical doctor or do you prefer to seek out alternative forms of medicine? If so maybe you are fortunate enough to have a naturopathic doctor that has a practice in your area?

With the rising cost of health care coverage and people becoming more and more wary of traditional medical doctors and medicines. The popularity of natural alternatives has spurred on the rise in people looking to doctors who are trained in naturopathic medicines. These are doctors who just like traditional doctors go to accredited colleges for degrees in the science of natural healthcare.

Many up and coming doctors are actually getting degrees in both traditional and alternative medicines. Realizing that there is a growing demand from patients to know every alternative available to them. Too often now a days people are quick to say I have this problem or that problem and what is the pill or drug I can take to make it go away. It’s become a vicious cycle in this country with battling drug stores on every other corner in America. I was thankful to see some news on naturopathic medicine getting to be more main stream.

The idea behind naturopathic medicine is that there is a natural order to our well being and when we get sick something has disrupted that balance. So basically a naturopathic doctor will help you for example identify what is causing your headache instead of oh you have a headache here take this pill and it will go away. Too often we fall into that trap of what’s the quick fix pill that I can take to make this illness go away instead of addressing the cause of the problem.

I think that it’s thinking like this that is the biggest contributing factor why our health care is so expensive. Just imagine if you were aware of why you have that ulcer or why you get those headaches. There would be no pills to take? What would happen to all those drug stores and drug commercials we see on TV all the time?
