Stop Drug Advertising No Different Than Cigarettes
I was recently looking at Web MD for an idea for a new post about medicine when I came upon their page for the latest drug news. The center of this page has a listing of articles all of which are relaying information about the the FDA warnings for new findings for drugs that are on the market and being used everyday. There were of course many pages of the same type of headlines but it only took me one page to decide what I was going to write this post about. Medicine, some times the best medicine to take is none at all and with the list of FDA warnings I just read I vote for no medicine as much as possible!
Here is a list of the headlines in the drug news section of Web MD, these are just the headlines mind you go over the page and read the articles if you really want to be disturbed.
-

-

-

I don’t know about you all but those are some pretty disturbing headlines, FDA warnings, probes and recalls oh my. I personally try and stay away from man made medicines as much as possible and after reading some of those headlines and the articles I have been reaffirmed in my desire to stay away from man made drugs. It really is laughable how much the drug industry has taken over the medical community and become a media juggernaut for their own pill pushing profits. The commercials are always classic TV promoting this great wonder drug to fix this or cure that with only a slight chance that you may break out into a rash, have difficulty breathing or die!
I don’t know how it is in the rest of the world but I think all these drug commercials and drug advertisements in the US need to stop. Back in the day there used to be ads and commercials for cigarettes but they ended up taking those off the market in most countries around the world. Why because it was discovered that this product called cigarettes was addictive and harmful to your health. I realize that the intent of all these drugs is to help your health in some way but all of them come with a laundry list of warnings for side effects, how is this any different than cigarettes? I don’t see much difference in them at all, what do you think?
Here’s a spoof of the drug commercials:

I couldn’t agree with you more. I watch the news every evening and am shocked and saddened by the number and frequency of the drug commercials. If a person wasn’t sick before, they would be after hearing what they might have! And everything from twitching legs to being irritable is a disease. I though most of those were just called “life”. Exercise would probably take care of 90% of them.
And at the end of the commercial you hear the potential side effects. Sorry, I would rather have the illness. Well, the four hour erection might be OK…
